So it is 2:45 AM in Cleveland, Ohio....and I am still packing for my trip to Madrid, Spain today.
As many of you know I will be studying abroad again in Spain until November 20th with my college. After that I plan to travel around Western Europe for 3 weeks. I figured like Argentina, a good way to reflect and to think about my trip would to be to blog! It will also give you guys who are reading the chance to understand what I am experiencing and seeing.
With that said, I would like to say that I am super excited to get the opportunity to study abroad again and to do it once again in a Spanish speaking country. I believe that when given the chance to do something again, you really can use your past eperiences to better your current experience. And this is what I plan to do! Although I had been culture shocked in Argentina, I believe that now I have the resilence and security as an individual to quickly accustom myself to Spanish society. We will see if I am right.
Regardless, I am excited to see my friends who are going on this trip with me in addition to my homestay mother Carmen. I just spoke with her today on the phone and she was very friendly. She recieved my letter and told me that I seemed very "simpatico". She also seemed to be an older women because she told me that she had two older daughters who lived in Madrid with their children. So I will be staying with an abuela, but that is fine with me!
During my time in Madrid I will be staying in the Retiro neighborhood, which is right by the huge Retiro Park. It's Madrid's version of Central Park. I really can't describe how excited and ready I am to dive into this experience. However I know that when this experience is over, I will gain a new understanding of the world, of Spain, and myself!
But...I need to finish packing, I think I packed too many clothes again. Until then-Ciao!
